Athena Dashboard

Over an eight‑week sprint, I led the redesign of six key modules for Athena's investments dashboard—account aggregation, performance trends, allocation, holdings highlights, recommendations, and CTAs—to surface insights above the fold, reduce cognitive load, and boost engagement by 25%.

Meet Athena

Athena partners with wealth-management firms to serve investors below traditional asset minimums; my brief was to turn a raw data dump into a single-screen “command center” that builds trust and drives managed-plan conversions.

Why This Dashboard Needed a Rethink

Users landed on tables and score numbers that meant nothing to them—40 % bounced before scrolling.

Old Experience

The Fork in the Road: Hybrid vs. Modular

Testing showed the hybrid grid buried allocation and holdings on smaller screens. I proposed breaking each module into movable cards, merging Balance + Net Deposits into one “Total Value” KPI. We traded one extra dev sprint for a layout that scales indefinitely and keeps every insight above the fold.

The Hybrid Layout locked each module into a fixed position, forced separate KPI cards that ate up precious real estate, and made adding new insights a full-layout rewrite

Switching to a Modular grid by combining KPIs to free up space and reduce visual clutter. I focused on decoupling panels, standardizing card anatomy, and building a reusable design framework

The New Portfolio Command Center

• Accounts panel groups every balance by type.

• Total Value chart shows $ + % change, 1W-YTD toggle.

• Inline CTA turns insight into action (“Get My Plan Managed”).

Results: 22 % More Conversions in 6 Weeks

Outcomes (one line each):

• +25 % depth-of-scroll on Investments page

• +22 % click-through to managed-plan sign-up

• 30 % faster front-end builds via the new card component
